Allen – We Are More Confident Than Ever

Allen heads to Burnley this afternoon with his Swansea City team mates looking to change an away record that has seen them lose three in succession on the road.

With Norwich City winning on Friday night, it adds pressure onto the Swans to get a win to keep themselves very much in the hunt for a top two place and Allen told the Western Mail “It’s a disappointing record

“There has only been a couple of draws and we have lost more games than we should have.

“At home our defensive record is so strong when you look at the away record you wonder what’s going on.

“To win three on the bounce but then lose three doesn’t really make much sense.

“Then you look at where the sides are in the table. We are not very proud of the fact we’ve lost to all three of the bottom clubs away from home.

“With the way we play football we are not the sort of side who are going to go away and try and play for a point.

“We’ve had some fantastic performances away from home and picked up some great wins, we’ve just lacked that bit of consistency.

“We want to try and win games, obviously you can’t win them all and there are going to be defeats but the Preston defeat was disappointing for several reasons.

“It’s something that’s disappointed us all season but thankfully we’ve got the time to put it right.

“It’s up to us now to make sure that we put it straight.

“Unfortunately we are in a situation where even if we win all five games and the teams above us do, there is nothing we can do about it

“With the players and ability we’ve got here it should be us who takes that spot, that’s my honest opinion.

“Had we been more consistent throughout the season we would be looking down on teams rather than looking up.

“We would be massively disappointed now with the strength we’ve got here not to achieve that.

“But we are still confident that teams will drop points, we’ve seen time and time again that teams in this league can pick up results against anyone else. Cardiff and Reading have got that bit of momentum going and we want to start building some ourselves.

“At this stage of the season momentum plays a big part. I know Blackpool is the example always used but they showed if you get that run of games where you are picking up win after win you go into each game and it feels a lot easier.

“That’s what we are looking to do.

“We are more confident than ever. As players at the start of the season you want to have a good year and if someone had offered us this at the beginning of the year we would have snapped your hand off.

“We are looking at the next five games, not really focussing on whether they are home or away just thinking about trying to win them.

“We’ve said they are like cup finals and we are going out to try and win every single one.

“We are confident more than nervous."
