The Burnley manager was speaking after his side came back from 1-0 down to beat Swansea City and told their official website "Football is a very, very strange game and relief would be the word!
"We expected Swansea to play as well as they did, especially in the first half.
"When we conceded again, we needed something special and I felt we got it in the second half.
"When you are on a bad run and you concede again at home, you need something to spark you to life.
"Thankfully, the response of the players was excellent and the crowd were fantastic second half.
"It created an atmosphere that made it very difficult for Swansea and it does go to show what we are capable of when we get it right.
"The lads gave me absolutely everything, which is all you can ask for.
"For the players to respond like that, following the frustrating run we have been on, is testament to the spirit and determination in the dressing room.
"It just shows what we are capable of when we get it right and I want that to be the hallmark of the side here, week in and week out, in terms of attitude determination, heart and character.
"They are the fundamentals and when we perform as we can we are a match for anyone in this division."
