The Swansea City captain has been sent home by Rodgers but only as a precautionary measure with the manager still confident that he will be back and fit ready to lead the side out at Wembley on Monday.
Rodgers told the Evening Post "It's precautionary really
"Garry has a stomach bug. We want to make sure he is all right and also we want to keep him away from the other players to make sure nothing spreads around.
"We don't expect there to be a problem with Garry," Rodgers added.
"The doctors have been with him and they say he will be okay, so we expect him to rejoin the group tomorrow.
"We have a two-week break between games so it's a strange one," he added.
"We had a few days enjoying our work last week, but now we are focusing on reinforcing our principles defensively and offensively ahead of Reading.
"The players have had a little rest and now they are ready to go."
