Graham arrived at the Liberty for a club record fee of £3.5m after an outstanding season at Watford where he netted 27 goals.
Rodgers told BBC Radio Five Live: "Danny is a terrific talent. I signed Danny at Watford, which was a brilliant club for me.
"He is a great mover, he is technically good and can finish on both sides.
"He looked capable when he first broke onto the scene at Boro. He made his debut away at Manchester United, but it did not quite happen for him.
"But he has gone away and scored goals at the lower levels and done it the hard way, and he is now ready to make a mark.
"He reminds me of Kevin Doyle in that he is a player who is hungry to score goals, to link well and work his socks off and I think he'll do great for us."
