The defender is keen to extend his Swansea City deal past the current 2013 expiry date and his representatives have opened talks with the club over doing just that.
Agent Jamie Moralee said "Ashley is under contract for two more years, but we are in talks and early negotiations with the club to extend his deal by another year or two.
"He has earned the right to play in the Premier League through his performances and he wants to be part of this team.
"There have been other clubs looking at him and there have been a couple of bids. But he is happy with his football in Wales and with Swansea.
"Ashley is fully committed to the club and both parties hope to sit down and progress the talks. We hope something will be sorted out in the next few days, if not, the next couple of weeks.
"It's high on the agenda and signing a new long-term contract would be the perfect scenario for Ashley.
"Ashley is fit, well and looking forward to the new season. He will be flying off to Austria on Monday with the team and he wants to remain a Swansea player.
"We still need to progress the talks, but the positive news is both parties are happy to renegotiate. We hope it will be sorted by the start of the season."
