Brendan Rodgers says the Swans will be vulnerable if there three new signings are blocked
The signings of Rafik Hallice, Darnel Situ and Fede Bessone have all been sanctioned by the Premer League but the club are yet to receive clearance from FIFA over the three players.
“The last update I had from our administrative staff was that the signings should not be any problem with regards to the Premier League, but that there is something with Fifa where there may or may not have been a deadline missed,” said the Swansea manager.
“I am still waiting to hear more, but it would obviously leave us in a very vulnerable position, a very vulnerable position, if things didn’t go through.
“I only hope that everything is all right and that we have the three players available.
“It’s certainly a concern,” Rodgers added.
“We wouldn’t be able to sign anybody until January and we would have two centre-halves.
“Garry Monk is still returning and is not 100 per cent fit yet, and even with him we would only have three.
“You look at the number of games there are to play. We have got Steven Caulker, Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor involved in international games this week and there will be another international programme in around a month’s time.
“I was at the club all day (last Wednesday), then I went to the reserve game against Liverpool and then came back to meet Fede and Darnel,” he explained.
“Our administrative team were trying to organise the signings, but I know Darnel’s situation was complicated because there were at least four agents trying to claim they represented him.
“When you put a deal in from the club you have to put an agent’s name on that deal, and there was a massive row between the various agents over that.
“All I can do now is keep my fingers crossed that everything will be all right with all three deals.”
