New Deal For Jazz

Jazz Richards has signed a new 18 month deal at Swansea City

The new deal for Richards comes just 24 hours after Brendan talked about securing people on longer term contracts and how the club had learned the lessons of previous seasons where players had walked away for nothing.

Although Richards would be unable to do that, it still shows that the club is keen on signing people on longer term deals with Richards telling the official siteย “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract

“I’ve really enjoyed being part of the squad in the last few seasons and I feel I am developing all the time.

“It was always my dream to play for my hometown club, so you can imagine what playing for the club in the Premier League means. It was only a brief appearance against Norwich, but it was an amazing experience despite the result.

“I feel I am very much part of the manager’s plans here. He is always keen to give youngsters a chance, and that is very encouraging.

“Of course, like any player, the aim is to be involved in as many games as possible. But I understand the manager has everyone pushing hard for places.

“But there is no better place for me to learn my trade.

“The manager has been excellent with me. Even when we sit in the team meetings, the way he speaks is so motivational. You want to run through brick walls for him.”

“Jazz is a young player who has really impressed me in my time here,” said Brendan.

“He has been unfortunate that he hasn’t been able to play as much as he would have liked because of the form of some of the senior players.

“But in the games he has played, he has done very well for us.

“Jazz is a Swansea boy, and it is very important that we have as many young players coming through in our squad as possible.

“Jazz is strong and tenacious, and I see him as a very important member of our squad going forward.

“He understands the culture of the club and the way we want to play.

“He will want to play more games in the future, but he is at a Premier League club and he has made his Premier League debut.

“He can cover a couple of positions for us, and I have got no doubt that if called upon, he will come in and do a very good job. His best position is right-back. He can play on the left as well, and whenever he has played he hasn’t let anyone down.

“It’s very important to have that type of player around.”
