Brendan Rodgers and Alex McLeish both paid tribute to tragic Wales boss Gary Speed on a sad day at the Liberty

Rodgers said after the 0-0 drawย “We decided to play the game as a mark of respect for Gary, because he was a football man

“We spoke a lot because of our respective jobs, and he was a true football legend.

“I thought the player’s performance level was fantastic and Ashley Williamswas phenomenal

“I think you could see that it had affected Joe because he is very much a thinker, but overall I’ve got nothing but praise for my players.

“It’s just so sad,” added Brendan. “He had been doing a fantastic job for Wales, and it’s a sad day for football.

“Both sets of fans were brilliant, and it’s perhaps fitting that the game ended in a draw.”

McLeish addedย “It’s just unbelievable

“When I heard the news my blood ran cold. It’s a devastating loss for football.”

“Gary was doing a great job with Wales and you could see that he was really taking to international football.”
