Jazz Richards will make a Premier League start on Saturday as the Swans look to gain their first away win of the season
Richards came on for the injured Angel Rangel last Sunday and now will face his first start of the season as the Swans travel to Blackburn at the weekend.
“It’s a good opportunity for me to come in and prove myself.” Richards told the Western Mail
“I’ve been waiting a while. I’ve been travelling with the squad, getting on the bench but not having the game time I would have liked.
“Now the opportunity has come I am desperate to take it.
“There were a few clubs that wanted to take me on loan but the manager asked me to wait around because I am part of his plans. He said I was a back up to Angel but if the opportunity came I would be the one to play.
“I was strongly thinking about going out on loan even though the manager had asked me to be patient and wait.
“I felt I needed to go out and play in front of good crowds and get that experience. But I took his word for it and waited and now I’ve got his chance.
“When the manager speaks to me he is always positive. He is a brilliant manager, I don’t think there are many better around so I took his word for it,” added Richards.
“I’ve learned a lot of watching Angel week-in, week-out. He is so positive going forward and it’s something I have tried to add to my game over the last year.
“The manager said I grew into the game against Aston Villa last weekend so it was nice to hear that. I’m much better prepared for the next game and I’ve got the boys around me who help me all the time.”
