The Swans were beaten 4-2 at Blackburn with striker Yakubu grabbing all four around consolation goals from Leroy Lita and Luke Moore with Joe Allen’s late red card no doubt fuelling the feelings of Brendan after the match.
Rodgers said after the gameย “It was a frustrating day
“In terms of the result it’s disappointing because for large parts of the game we were in control.
“But we weren’t great defensively and it’s ended up costing us.
“We suffered a bit with the set pieces,” he said. “To concede the second goal just before half time was disappointing, but going forward I thought we were fantastic.
“We got a goal back at 3-2 and by then we had great momentum in the game; we were getting in behind them and causing problems.
“But ultimately, we need to defend better.”
Swansea’s first goal was a classic example of how they play the game with Lita finishing off a perfect move with plenty of passes spanning the width and length of the pitch.
“It was a great goal,” he said. “The players showed great movement and patience and it was a good cross at the end and Leroy showed his power in the air and I thought that was the least we deserved at that stage.”
Brendan also felt the Swans were hard done by with Joe’s red card addingย “I think it was harsh
“Joe has tripped him without really touching the player, and although it was a foul, he has very hard done by.”
