After a third away point of the season at Newcastle, Joe Allen remains confident that the first away win is coming – and could arrive at Everton on Wednesday
Allen said after Saturday’s 0-0 drawย โWeโre getting more and more confident on the road and weโre looking forward to Wednesdayโs game to see if we can get that first away win
โIt would get the monkey off our back, but itโs not something that overly bothering us โ weโre confident it will happen.
โWe just have to make sure we work 100% to try and achieve that and show composure and bravery to go to these places, play our football and get results.
โItโs difficult to go away and just think about a win because you can lose a little bit of focus from the fact youโre playing at a Premier League team thatโs been there for years. We know itโs going to be another tough game but weโve got a great team and some great players here that are capable of going to these places and getting results.
โYou can speak about so many grounds that will be tough to travel to this season and Goodison Park is another one,โ said Allen, who returned to the Swansโ starting line-up on Saturday following a one-game ban.
โWeโll have to show resolve at in some parts of the game, Iโm sure, then weโll have to go up the other end, create some chances and score some goals.
โThereโs no reason why we canโt go to places like that and get results.
โItโs a shame we havenโt got that victory before now but there have been some positive performances and itโs important to remember that.
โWeโve shown how far weโve come. We had to defend for our lives and we were prepared to do that.
โWe would do anything to pick up point.
โAway from home has been a bit of a focus recently. We havenโt had that away victory but weโve been to Liverpool and kept a clean sheet and weโve come to St Jamesโ Park and done the same there.
โTo not be at our best and still pick up a point away from home in Newcastle is no disgrace.โ
