Taylor Looking For Victory At Goodison

Neil Taylor has more reason than most perhaps to want a Swans victory at Goodison Park tonight

Taylor will line up against Everton tonight wanting a win not just because of his Liverpool supporting childhood but because victory could also deliver a top 10 place for the Swans at the Christmas period.

A win for the Swans would take them past the 20 point barrier – often mooted as halfway towards survival – with less than half the season gone as well as notching up their first away win of the season and their first ever competitive win over Everton.

So plenty to play for on that basis as Taylor explainedย โ€œIt will be a big boost for us to break the 20-point mark,

โ€œBut the problem is every year the teams who get relegated always get more and more points.

โ€œLook at Blackpool and the points they had last season. It was surprising. No matter how many points you get, itโ€™s all relative to how the league is going. You just donโ€™t know if 40 points will be enough.

ย โ€œTeams at the bottom like Sunderland can change managers and then get a new lease of life. Weโ€™re just looking at the teams above us. We just want to be in the top 10 and we know if we win at Everton then we could be in there.

โ€œI will have some family at the game and it will be nice to win there,โ€ smiled Taylor. โ€œBut I donโ€™t really mind where we get our wins from. It will be nice just to get our first away win.

โ€œIt isnโ€™t getting the players down because we havenโ€™t performed badly away from home and a lot of teams in the league thrive on their home form.

โ€œBut winning away is something we want to get out of the way.

โ€œItโ€™s not going to be easy at Everton because they are an established Premier League team who are always around the European places.

โ€œThey aim for that every year and have some great players. We have to watch the likes of Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini because they are good in the air and Everton will want to put balls in the box.

โ€œIt gives us confidence that the promoted teams have done well there.

โ€œBut we donโ€™t worry about other teams. We look at things from our own point of view.

โ€œTeams havenโ€™t had much joy at places like Anfield and St Jamesโ€™ Park, but we have.

โ€œGoodison is a great, little ground with the supporters tight to the pitch.

โ€œItโ€™s a tough place to go to but we want another result. Everything is bigger and better in this league.โ€
