Henry’s Return Was Like A Pop Concert

Brendan Rodgers likened Thierry Henry’s return to Arsenal this week to a pop concert

Henry returned to the Gunners last week and made an immediate impact when scoring the only goal of the game against Leeds in the FA Cup on Monday.

And he will now make his Premier League return at the Liberty on Sunday when the Swans look to defend a strong home record against the Gunners.

“It was like a pop concert.

“They sang Thierry Henry’s name all the way through and then when he came on all the lights were held in the air like a Take That concert.

“It was incredible just to see that, and then of course he scored the winning goal with a wonderful finish.

“I don’t think he is fully fit and I would think he will start on the bench against us, but he showed that he will still be a threat whenever he is on the field.

“It’s understandable because you are talking about arguably one of the top three players ever to grace the Premier League,” the Swansea manager added.

“Arsene (Wenger) is a clever man and he obviously feels Henry can come in and make an impact, which he has done already.

“Having someone of his status around the club will help you on the field and off it, and Arsenal will be hoping he can keep things going after that wonderful goal the other night.”

Henry though is likely to remain on the bench on Sunday with Robin Van Persie leading the line against theSwans ย – another player who Rodgers had praise forย “He has got everything,” he conceded.

“He has all the tools to be a top player, and he has shown that with his performances over the last year.

“But we have got a lot of gifted players as well, and it’s up to us to show that on Sunday.”
