Leon – We’re Not Worried Who We Play

Leon Britton says that the Swans have lost any fear factor they may have had at the start of the season

Britton admits that maybe the Swans were a little in awe when they first came into the Premier League

Britton told the Evening Postย “I’ve never played at this level so I came in unsure

“Obviously you hear about the Premier League, about the amazing players and you do question yourself.

“In the first game we lined up in the tunnel against David Silva and Yaya Toure.

“When you’re in the Championship, you watch these players on TV scoring unbelievable goals, so when you’re next to them it did feel like a cup game, a one-off.

“Now we’ve played 24 games and we’re not worried about which international we’re playing against. Everyone is a good player.

“It’s just a case of stamping your own authority on the game rather than worry about what the other team is doing.

“If you’d said at the beginning of the season that Swansea v Norwich would have been a mid-table clash, not many people would have believed you,” said Britton.

“I think both clubs deserve credit. When you play on Sky and beat Arsenal people are talking about you all over the country. You do get more respect.

“I know people who have been playing in the Premier League for a long time, and they tell me after games that we played some great football.

“We’ve had a lot of praise showered on us throughout the season.

“But we’ve got a great bunch of lads who won’t get carried away with that.

“The main aim is still to stay up,” he added.

“The manager’s never said we need a certain amount of points to be safe โ€” even now he doesn’t say we need so many more points.

“It’s a case of keeping the standard up every day in training and doing the same things we did at West Brom last week.”
