Jordi Gomez says he is not surprised by the Swans success this season
Gomez will come up against his former employers tomorrow with Wigan bottom of the table and the Swans closing in on Premier League safety
“I had a great time at Swansea, but I’m now at Wigan and that’s the only thing that I can be thinking about,” Gomez told the Evening Post.
“They have done very well this season, but I haven’t really been surprised to be honest.
“I knew they had a great team who play good football, and when you put those together then good things will happen.
“We were very unlucky that day, hitting the woodwork twice and having a penalty saved by the goalkeeper,” said Gomez.
“A draw won’t be good enough this time, though, and we will be going all out for the three points.
“I thought we maybe deserved a little bit more (against Villa) because we dominated most of the game,” added Gomez.
“But a point is a point and we have to consider it a good point.
“Unfortunately, the ball wouldn’t go in for us, and that was the only thing that let us down on the day.
“But that’s three games without losing, and it’s definitely something we need to build on.”
