Danny – Michel Is The Best

Swansea City striker Danny Graham has worked with several international goalkeepers during his career but believes Michel Vorm is the best he has ever played with.

Swansea paid Dutch side Utrect ยฃ1.5m for the goalkeeper last summer and it proved to be one of the signings of the season as the 28-year-old went on to win three of the clubโ€™s end of season awards; Playersโ€™ Player of the Year, Supporters Player of the Year and the Away fansโ€™ award.

Graham started his professional career at Middlesbrough and spent time on loan at several clubs, including Leeds United, Derby County and Blackpool, before joining Carlisle United permanently in 2007 and subsequently Watford two years later.

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzar, Liverpoolโ€™s Brad Jones, ex-Scotland and Tottenham shot-stopper Neil Sullivan and Scott Loach, who has been called into the full England squad, are among the keepers Graham has played alongside in the past.

But the Swansea striker is adamant that Vorm is the best goalkeeper he has worked with.

Graham told goalkeepersโ€™ website GK Icon: โ€œHe is the best I have played with and that is by no means meant as disrespect to the other goalkeepers I have worked with because I have worked with some top goalkeepers in my career.

โ€œBut Michel has come in and he has shown everyone in the Premier League what he is about. He was unbelievable last year and kept us in a lot of games last season.

โ€œHe saved a lot of penalties last year, which is not easy to do, and he has every attribute you would want as a goalkeeper.

โ€œHe is great with his feet and has an unbelievable spring, which means he can push himself off the floor so well – because he is not the biggest goalkeeper.

โ€œHe is definitely the best I have worked with and it is great he has signed a new deal.โ€

Above is part of an interview Graham conducted with goalkeepersโ€™ website GK Icon, which runs coaching sessions for keepers of all ages across the country. Their website includes not only information on their courses, but advice for those hoping to improve as goalkeepers and also regular interviews with โ€˜keepers.
