Alan Pardew claimed that his side were undone by Swansea’s greater experience
โUp until Swansea scored I thought we were doing a great job,โ said Pardew.
โOur work rate was excellent but we were missing a lot of our senior players and when Swansea scored we didnโt react as we should have.
โSwansea had a lot more experience out on the field that us and it showed.
โWe kept being told that the decision would be overturned and that Senegal would let Papiss play but it wasnโt until about 1.40pm that we found out he was not going to be able to play so of course it affected us.
โWe did nothing wrong and he was a big miss for us. We did lots of things right but in the final third we were lacking something.
โThe players did their best against a very good Swansea side who moved the ball around well.
โBut we were missing a lot of our senior players and it showed.
โOf course no-one wants to lose two home games in a row but when things are going against you, you need your senior players around and we have not had them available.
โYou only had to look at our bench to see we were missing some big players and that makes things very hard.
โBut I thought we were much better than the performance against West Ham.
โI am not going to have a go at my players because I thought their work rate was excellent.โ
