Poor Decision Costs Swans Point

Whether had the goal stood it would have been a deserved point or not is irrelevant but it would have meant a share of he spoils in a entertaining game that also saw Michel Vorm save a penalty in the second half.

It was a game that ebbed and flowed after the Swans took a deserved lead in the first half when Luke Moore headed home a Jonathan de Guzman corner for his second goal in as many games after a dominating first half hour that could have seen them take the lead long before they did.

At that point of the game there only looked one winner as the Swans were pinging the ball round with he style that we have become accustomed to. Space seemed to be at a level that we enjoy and there were threats on both flanks from the full backs with Michu spurning a couple of good chances.

De Guzman also came close with a free kick after a foul on the edge of the box and it looked for all the world that it would be another three points for the Swans with Vorm at that point a complete passenger.

The goal though seemed to spur West Brom into action although it was there only real chance of the first half that saw Lukaku turn in a cross from the right to bring the two teams level.

Minutes later the home fans were bemoaning Michu who was fouled on the edge of the box to protests from the home side that he had dived but it mattered not as Pablo hit the free kick into the wall to leave the half time position level.

If the first half belonged to the Swans the second was definitely that of the home side as they pressed the Swans higher up the pitch and the space so freely available in the first half had disappeared second time around.

The penalty when it arrived looked soft from the away end but it mattered not as Vorm guessed right and saved from Lukaku to the delight of the vocal travelling support that once again did Swansea proud.

But it was a brief respite for the Swans who fell behind to a corner that eventually saw de Guzman put through his own net and the home side were ahead and the Swans were chasing a game that had once looked like theirs to win.

And they did press a but but never really called Ben Foster into action as the search for the final killer pass could sometimes see them guilty of overplaying but they were still pressured hard by the home team.

Lamah’s goal seemed to have earned them a point but it wasnt to be give and the remaining minutes and the four of stoppage time passed without further incident of note and the Swans were beaten.

It could have been a point for us this afternoon bar for that linesman’s flag but it’s back to South Wales empty handed and preparation for our next game where we can complete a league double over Arsenal. Onwards.
