Dyer put pen to paper this week ironically in a week when talks of a move for one of his former team mates increased. Dyer was a team mate of Gareth Bale at Southampton who looks set for a move to Spain this summer with reports of a move being on the cards for รยฃ85 million.
The two careers may be different in terms of transfer values but after four years in Swansea, Dyer was only too happy to commit to another four having played his part in their rise during his time here. A man of the match performance in last season’s Capital One Cup Final was just one of the highlights for Dyer who smiles as he says that this is his first season where the Swans have not been touted for relegation since he arrived at the club.
“Since I came every season has got better and better รขโฌโ our league position, getting promoted, winning a cup, getting into Europe.” Dyer said
“I am on cloud nine right now and I hope it continues for as long as possible.
“Since I have been at Swansea, I think it has only been this year where we haven’t been touted for relegation,
“Every year, no matter where we have finished the previous season, people have been saying we would get relegated.
“I think we finished seventh under Paulo and people talked about us going down, then obviously it was the same when we got to the Premier League.”
Dyer is likely to feature for the Swans tonight as they go into their second leg of the Europa League tie against Malmo thanks to the injury to Pablo Hernandez and he has had an impressive pre-season which keeps competition for places at the Liberty strong.
