Social media sites yesterday were full of the Jacks on tour in Sweden and Copenhagen as the Jack Army headed off on their first European away game in more than 20 years and all hoping to see the Swans secure what would just be their second win on the road in European competition.
That last win came over 30 years ago when Sliema Wanderers were demolished 5-0 in Malta which followed the 12-0 win the Swans got at the Vetch for a comprehensive 17-0 aggregate win. It’s difficult to see a result of similar proportions tonight but definitely you would expect the Swans to finish the job they started so successfully last Thursday evening and gain another victory for a 5+ goal aggregate victory.
Team wise again we find it difficult to predict just how many changes the manager will make although the loss of JonJo Shelvey obviously means that one of the changes is forced on him and I suspect it will be De Guzman who takes his place in midfield.
The manager is taking nothing for granted in he the game: รขโฌลOf course we cannot have complacency,รขโฌย said Laudrup.
รขโฌลFor me itรขโฌโขs not only a question of moving onto the next round รขโฌโ and I am confident we will do that even if we are not there yet รขโฌโ but, for me, itรขโฌโขs very important that we go out and treat this as an isolated game and we have a very good away performance. I want us to be very well organised, knowing that there will be times when they dominate being the home side. That is something we will need in Europe and the Premier League.”
One thing we have learned from Michael’s twelve months in charge is that he does treat one game at a time and I do expect him to have told the Swans to try and treat the game as if it were 0-0 to start with but we saw last week that we had too much for Malmo and I don’t really expect to see anything different tonight.
The Jack Army – as we mentioned above – are out there already and over 800 will be in the ground tonight to watch the game and we expect them to be loud and proud throughout the game carrying on the traditions that we have built up over the years.
This tie is our last before we welcome Manchester United to the Liberty a week on Saturday whilst the first leg of the fourth qualifying round will take place two weeks tonight.
