A first half al from Ben Davies and a late strike from Pablo Hernandez was enough to give the Swans the victory that they so craved going into the international break and it lifted them off the bottom of the early Premier League table in the process. Ironically the result sent West Brom to the bottom of the table and they are yet to find the back of the net in three league games so far this season.
For two sides that had done so well last season, it was a match up of two sides who had not won much in the Premier League at the back end of last season and neither had recorded a win in the league this time around. As expected, the Swans had Ashley Williams. Jonjo Shelvey and Wilfried Bony back in the starting line up after leaving them at home for the midweek defeat in Romania whilst Jose Canas was also predictably in the starting line up for the Swans.
The Swans were good value for their victory and Michu came close early on before Routledge tested Myhill in the home goal with a curling shot. It was shortly after Morrison wasted a good chance for the Baggies that the Swans took the lead as Ben Davies volleyed home a cross from Pablo Hernandez for only his second goal for the club and his first away from the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans half time lead of one goal should have been doubled early in the second half but Routledge had a poor first touch after being played through by Michu and Myhill was able to save. But the Swans by now were dominant and the better chances were falling to the Swans with Routledge again wasting a decent opportunity and Pablo hitting the bar.
It was looking as if the one goal was going to be enough but it became two just seven minutes from the end when he fired home from close range after good work by Michu.
The travelling support were enjoying the moment of a Swans victory and sung the team home at the end of the game on our best league performance of the season and one that sets us up nicely for a two week break before we return on 16th September with a home game against current leaders Liverpool.
