Swans Complete N’gog Signing

N’gog who joined Bolton in 2011 from Liverpool for a fee of ร‚ยฃ4m has scored 16 goals in 91 appearances for the side who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2011-12 season. He has found the net on four occasions this season and was out of contract at the end of the season.

He scored 19 goals in 3 seasons at Anfield as well before making the move down the M62 but has never really settled into a routine at the Reebok Stadium and the Swans made the swoop to provide back up cover for the in form Wilfried Bony.

Initial reactions from Swans fans are not good however we need to remember that we are still working on a tight budget at the club and whilst the name of N’gog was treated with groans from some sections there were similar groans back in the summer when JonJo Shelvey signed for the club too. We need a backup striker and we are all pretty much in agreement that Alvaro Vazquez has not done it for us so N’gog could well fit one of the bills that we have been missing.

“David plays in a position where we do not have a lot of personnel and, with the number of games we still have to play, it was important to have another option,” Michael Laudrup said after completing the deal

“Another thing that was important was to find someone who has different abilities compared to the players we already have, and he is someone with different qualities.

“He has that one-v-one pace that could be useful in games, and another important thing is that he has experience of English football.

“You can look abroad in January, but then you might sign a player who needs a few months to adapt, and we only have three-and-a-half months before the end of the season.”

Another player at the club today was Tom Ince but as yet the club have not been able to confirm his signing as he has travelled to London to hold talks with Crystal Palace. The Swans remain keen to snap up the Blackpool man on another deal until the end of the season and talks are rumoured to have gone well but Ince wants to explore all options before making his final decision.
