A Warm Welcome Back To Nathan

Dyer had already scored the Swans opening goal in that game and they looked in control of the fixture when he went down under challenge and had to be given Oxygen on the pitch amid fears that there was a leg break involved in the incident.

Thankfully that was not to be the case and Dyer’s return to action was a massive boost for the Swans especially on the back of such a poor run of form. The win lifted them temporarily into the top half of the table again but more importantly it was the input I think of Dyer that seemed to make the difference to the team.

We know that an inform Nathan Dyer is almost unplayable at times and I think we are about to see the best of him in the coming weeks given his own fears that he felt his season may have ended on that Sunday in Norwich.

“When I couldn’t move and was being stretchered off, all sorts of things went through my mind,” said Dyer.

“When I was down on the pitch I seriously thought it was very bad. I couldn’t get up.

“But luckily my ligaments were strong enough to protect the bone. When we had the X-rays it eased my mind if not the pain.

“I heard a snap when I did it, but the specialist said I was fortunate as it was just the ligament that had snapped away. That no longer exists, but luckily it wasn’t the bone.

“It could have been a lot worse.”

Nathan was man of the match in last year’s Capital One Cup final with his two goals that set the Swans on the road to their first major trophy win and he has four league goals to his credit this season so a return is most definitely a boost and gives us other goal scoring options in the final run in of the season and whilst we continue to battle on two fronts in the cups.

Dyer was not alone to make his return on Tuesday, Jonjo Shelvey made a scoring return and Jonathan De Guzman was on hand to provide the assist for the all important second goal as the Swans started a crucial period of fixtures with a win.

I would imagine that his return as a substitute now makes him a hot favourite to start on Saturday against West Ham where we head off in search of a second consecutive league win for the first time since December 2012 when we beat Arsenal at the Emirates just three days after an impressive victory over West Brom at the Liberty.
