Pablo – We Can Win This

Napoli were within a whisker of qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League this season but were given a real fright by the Swans at the Liberty last week when they were battered for 90 minutes but managed to keep us to a blank scoreline meaning everything is to play for this evening.

And Hernandez believes that the Swans are capable of finishing off the job that they started seven days ago and progress through the competition to face either Frankfurt or Porto in the last 16.

Defeat would of course be no disgrace for the Swans who have won one of their five road trips in Europe this season but that is not something that the players are focusing on ahead of what could be the biggest result the club have ever produced.

The bookies are giving them no real chance of winning the game with odds generally available on a Swans win of around 6/1 for this game but having upset those odds in the last 18 months at Anfield, the Emirates, Stamford Bridge, the Mestalla and Old Trafford the Swans know they are a team which can upset the form guide.

“I think the team come here with confidence,” said Hernandez. “The first game in Swansea we played really well, controlled possession and had many chances. But if you don’t score you don’t win.

“I think the favourites are Napoli because they are playing at home.

“In the first game we were better, but they are a big team in Europe and they have played in the Champions League this season.”

Hernandez has been moved into a new role since Garry Monk was appointed as manager and it is his incisive passing that the Swans will look at to create chances for others within the team as he looks at his most settled run of form since joining the club in the summer of 2012.

“I like playing in this position,” added Hernandez. “I played in this position in the past.”

“But the most important thing for me is just to play. This season has not been easy because i have had a lot of injuries.

“It is important for me to keep playing for the remainder of the season and help the team as much as I can.”
