Michu – I’m Happiest When I Am On The Pitch

Last season’s leading scorer was also quick to say that he also believes that the new manager Garry Monk is doing a good job after rumours over the last months suggested he didn’t want to play for the club due to the sacking of Michael Laudrup.

รขโ‚ฌล“I think Michael was a really good gaffer but Garry Monk is doing well,รขโ‚ฌย said the Spain international. รขโ‚ฌล“He is just starting out and we are trying to help him and I think he will be a really good gaffer as well.

รขโ‚ฌล“Together we are fighting for Swansea, we are defending the badge and we are happy to do that. We are going to save the club in the Premier League this season and we are going to finish happy and higher than the position we are now.รขโ‚ฌย

The Swans are currently 5 points ahead of the relegation zone after their win at Arsenal and Sunderland’d defeat last night at Liverpool and a win on Saturday will make the table look even more comfortable for the side who are aiming for a fourth successive season in the Premier League.

Michu’s start on Tuesday followed up his recent substitute appearances against West Brom and Everton and he had chances to score at a ground where his double last season gave the Swans a famous victory.

รขโ‚ฌล“Perhaps I could have score at Arsenal but the important thing was how we did as a team and, for me, it was a great performance and that can be enough for this moment.

รขโ‚ฌล“We had lost the two games before so we went to Arsenal determined to get something so it was good to have a point.

Personally I think Michu is likely to start again this weekend against Norwich where a win will move the Swans above their opponents and close to the predicted number of points needed – a figure that is expected to be quite low this season.

It is a massive game for the club and one that – despite the point on Tuesday – we probably have to win even if it is just to kill off the nerves that have surrounded us in recent weeks.

รขโ‚ฌล“It is a final, it has to be a final,รขโ‚ฌย stressed Michu. รขโ‚ฌล“We have had too many games without a win. Now we are at home, with our crowd, we need to win. Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs massive, massive game. For me itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs like the game against Bradford at Wembley: a final we have to win.รขโ‚ฌย
