De Guzman Looks To The Future

De Guzman was given a second loan spell back at Swansea last summer by Michael Laudrup and that comes to an end after the last game of the season at Sunderland on May 11.

Swans manager Garry Monk has already suggested that the club would be keen to do a deal to make the move for De Guzman a permanent one and if that is the case then potentially now would be the time to make that move. If De Guzman does end up going to the World Cup with the Dutch squad then there is the chance that interest in the midfielder could increase and there is the danger that it could price us out of a move.

It is a known fact that after international tournaments then interest in players increased and good displays in these tournaments also tend to increase the values of the players as the World watches what they are capable of.

Therefore it would make sense for the Swans not to take that chance with the player who has made such an impact in his two seasons at the Liberty. Goalscoring midfielders are not easy to come across and De Guzman fits that bill and for that reason the Swans should be looking to secure the move for the player.

It may well be that we are waiting to see what happens in terms of the managers role but we need to consider these things and act reasonably quickly now that our future for next season has been secured we could ensure that part of the team that earned that future knows where his lies.

“That will determine my future as well. You never know (about national selection). I just have to keep playing and staying fit.” said De Guzman

“If I keep playing my part, then we will see.

“It’s been a very long season for us,” he acknowledges.

“We have played more than 50 games with Europa League qualification รขโ‚ฌโ€ the games have come week-in, week-out.

“It’s our job to keep fit and stay fit, but it is different to be playing so many games in one season so mentally and physically, I think we’re all tired.”
