Monk Fumes At Referee Decisions

If he thought that Stoke away this year was as bad as it got then nothing would have prepared him today for the game against QPR when a red card that should have been was not given and one that should not have been was given.

Anthony Taylor was the man at the centre of the decisions and his failure between him and his linesman to spot Robert Green’s handball was one thing but then it was compounded as he sent Wayne Routledge off towards the end of the game before at least leaving with the satisfaction of one point at least.

But as you would imagine it was the performance of the referee that was at the top end of the match interviews after the game with Monk looking first at the decision to allow Green to stay on the field

“Rob Green is half a metre outside his area and the linesman has a clear view so I don’t see how you miss it.” said Monk

รขโ‚ฌล“I’m limited on what I can say and I’m tired of it.

รขโ‚ฌล“It’s hard when we are constantly getting decisions like this. It sounds like me moaning but I don’t want to be talking about it, I only care about the football.

รขโ‚ฌล“And I thought the players were magnificent today in the conditions and after being disappointing at Liverpool.

รขโ‚ฌล“But I have to answer questions about dubious decisions, game-changing ones not fifty-fiftys.รขโ‚ฌย

And if that decision to not award the correct decision was one thing, then he was equally as unhappy with the red card for Routledge which will surely be appealed given the video evidence that has already been presented

รขโ‚ฌล“It’s a leg breaker and everyone knew it apart from the official,รขโ‚ฌย said Monk. รขโ‚ฌล“Then there’s the double whammy when it’s Wayne who is sent off. He doesn’t kick out at all and I hope justice is done because I am losing a little bit of faith.

รขโ‚ฌล“It was out of control and reckless and yet it’s my player who ends up getting sent off. Wayne’s one of the calmest players in our squad so the way he reacted tells you something รขโ‚ฌโ€œ and I actually thought he controlled himself pretty well.

รขโ‚ฌล“I hope sense prevails now because it’s clear as day. Please tell me if I’m wrong.

You can completely understand where Monk is coming from at the moment. He has talked about decisions being wrong before and we are not alone in being cost points by decisions that just are not even close to being the correct one.

Yet nothing changes.
