The signing was rumoured before the turn of the year but it was confirmed earlier on today via the club’s official Twitter feed first

Grimes himself was quick to add his words on Twitter when he added

Grimes has signed with a four and a half year contract that takes him to the end of 2019 as a Swansea player after what he himself described as a stressful month of speculation.

The 19 year old midfielder made his debut for Exeter at the start of last season and his impact was immediate and he has made 62 first team appearances since that time, finding the back of the net on five occasions.

He seems to be somewhat of a dead ball specialist from the You Tube video below

“I’m glad it’s done – I’m delighted,’’ said Grimes. “I seem to have been waiting a long time for this day to finally arrive.

“We’ve been talking about it for well over a month and, if I’m honest, it’s been really stressful waiting for the move to be finalised; agonising at times.

“It’s a sad day to leave Exeter because I’ve been with the club from the age of 10. They’ve been fantastic to me and I can only thank them for their help. It’s a great club with good people and supporters.

“But I’m moving on to bigger and better things and I hope it’s the start of another successful chapter in my career.

“I can’t wait to get started. Obviously I need to settle in first, get in and around the first team and hope to take any opportunities that come my way in the future. ”

I’m not sure from here how close Grimes will get to the first team this season but certainly adding to the talent we are bringing into develop it is another positive move for the future at the very least
