Last year Pochettino raided the Swans for goalkeeper Michel Vorm and defender Ben Davies but also let us have Gylfi Sigurdsson back and it is clear to everyone to see which club got the better of that deal.
This year – reports the Guardian – it is the performance of Shelvey that has caught his eye and he is weighing up making a bid for the player who joined us from Liverpool two years ago.
At the turn of the year it was easy to see Shelvey making his way away from the Liberty Stadium. He had been publically criticised by his manager prior to an appearance at former club Liverpool and then a poor display and a crass error led to a suspension and it looked as if his time at Swansea may be up.
However, some impressive displays towards the end of the season and some vital goals later and Shelvey is one of those players that we should certainly look at ensuring that we do not lose this summer, especially if we have designs on improving on last season’s record breaking performance.
He is forming a strong midfield link with the likes of Jack Cork, Ki and Gylfi himself so we should always look to keep hold of him and being in a position that we do not need to sell there is no reason why it should be considered unless a. the player wants to go or b. the money on offer is just too good to turn down.
The Guardian goes onto say that Spurs will turn their interest to Shelvey because “Tottenham fear that their top midfield target, Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton, will join either Arsenal or Manchester United.”
