Led by rookie manager Garry Monk, they upset the apple cart on Day 1 when they triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford and we went onto do the league double over both United and Arsenal, only the third team in Premier League history to do that in the same season.
And whilst it wasn’t quite the highest place that the Swans have ever achieved – John Toshack’s side finished 6th in the top flight in 1982 – it was still enough for Jenkins to hail the season as the best ever.
He said รขโฌลWhen youรขโฌโขre competing in this division against big clubs, for us to be in the top ten all year and finish eighth comfortably shows that weรขโฌโขve gone to a new level.
รขโฌลWeรขโฌโขve got a strong squad and the club is in a fantastic position, so it has to be the best shape the club has ever been in its history.
รขโฌลTo me itรขโฌโขs the best season in the clubรขโฌโขs history. We have exceeded expectations – I donรขโฌโขt think anyone can argue that.
รขโฌลWe have been consistent throughout the season, and that was the very pleasing thing.
รขโฌลTo stay in the top half of the table for the entire season is a fantastic achievement for us.”
