I have to say that I am still unconvinced on the legitimacy of the Swans £11m bid but with Newcastle allegedly in at a figure £2m higher than that it is probably somewhat irrelevant if the Serbian striker is to end up in the Premier League for next season.

Newcastle and Swansea appear to be being linked with many striker moves this summer but Belgian newspaper HLN claims claim the Swans offered €15 million for Mitrovic but that Anderlecht are holding out for a greater fee.

It is though also reported that there is interest from other clubs in Europe with reports in German suggesting that Borussia Monchengladbach are also in the hunt for the striker who scored 20 league goals last season.

Anderlecht have also not given up hope of holding onto one of their prized assets with general manager Hermann van Holsbeeck insisting the club do not want him to leave

“At 20, Mitrovic has scored 20 league goals this season (2014-15).

“He scored against Arsenal, (Borussia) Dortmund and has also played for Serbia – this is a striker who you know can really improve a side.

“Therefore we have decided against selling him – Mitro is aware and he wants to stay.”
