Fulham were the first team linked with Richards after he spent a time on loan there last season but as reports surfaced of Premier League interest in the Welsh international then you did start to wonder whether he may hold out for a different move.
But it was only Fulham that changed the reported interest into a firm bid for the player and Jazz went off to the Cottage in his hunt for first team football.
Richards had admitted at the end of last season that he may have to move in his hunt for regular first team football and with Wales doing so well in the European Championship qualifying then it probably became more important for Jazz to play on a regular basis as Wales hope to make their first major finals for more than 50 years.
And he is clearly happy to be at Fulham as he explained following the signing “When I was on loan here last season I settled in straight away with the lads and the staff, and I enjoyed the style of football that (manager) Kit Symons was trying to get the team playing, that made me want to come back.
“Kit’s a good manager, a good coach, and what he’s trying to get us to do will take the club forward and we’ve got the players to do so. And we’ve already made some good signings this summer.
“In some of the games last season we were unfortunate with the results, but with the crowd behind us this year supporting the lads I think we can go on and do big things.”
