Monk Vows To Fight On

The Swans made it just one win in nine with a 1-0 defeat at Norwich yesterday on an afternoon where a familiar tale unfolded in that we had plenty of possession but the fact that we had no shots on target tells you pretty much all you need to know about the game itself.

A solitary goal from Johnny Howson in the second half was enough to give the home side a win and Monk must now work with his side over the next two weeks to turn around a slump in form that stretches back to August.

We seem to have a balance in the side that doesn’t look right and the sharp, crisp passing of the early weeks has been replaced by a pedestrian midfield who have become entirely predictable in what they are about to do next.

Couple that with sloppy defending and misplaced passes and you can see why we are losing games against sides that twelve months ago I don’t believe we would have lost to and that is why things need to change in terms of the way we approach things.

For the first time after the game at Norwich, Monk admitted that he was concerned by the run of form as he said “Of course I’m concerned

“We’re here to win games and get points. In my time as manager we’ve done that very well. These difficult periods are part of it and part of management. I understand what needs to be done, but of course it’s a concern.

“It’s not the lowest (I’ve felt). It’s not a good moment for myself, but I’m a fighter. I’ve been at the core of that (at Swansea as a club) for a long, long time and I understand that.”
