Clement Returns

Clement had been in charge at the Liberty for just about twelve months when he was shown the door just over six months after he had hoped secure Premier League safety for the Swans when all looked lost.

The Swans of course looked dead certs for relegation when Clement left and despite the pick up around January and February, relegation was of course confirmed with little more Han a whimper back in May.

Now with Graham Potter at the helm it is the Swans who will look to tomorrow’s game to try and lift themselves back to the edge of the play off spaces boosted by the confidence that the midweek win over Blackburn will have created.

Potter should learn a few lessons from that performance on Tuesday night with one of the key ones being that changing the side to the level that we change it every week is not the solution for success. Making odd changes is good to keep players fresh but a spine should be there to work around every week and Tuesday was a classic lesson in why.

It is clear that harsh words were spoken at half time on Tuesday night, backed up by Olly McBurnie “The first half was nowhere near good enough and the gaffer has let us know that,” he said.

“He’s given us the harsh words we needed and you could see we were a different team in the second half.

“I can vouch that it was the angriest I have seen him.

“He doesn’t usually go off like that at all since I’ve known him.”

Reading arrive at the Liberty in the relegation zone with just three wins to date this season and defeat tomorrow could see some real daylight start to form between them and the sides just outside the bottom three.

Three defeats in the last four games have put pressure back onto the manager and he will b looking to make his return to the Liberty a happy ones link
