And now the end is nigh…

On the flip side of the game a win for the visitors would do everything to secure their play off point bar an incredible series of results in the final round of matches on Sunday and would earn them an almost certain two legged tie against Leeds in the play offs.

Small margins can mean so much as had we held onto the lead on Saturday we would go into this game with a real chance of producing the one of the most unlikely play off appearances of all time but over the course of the season our final league position will be broadly what we deserve it to be.

And that is not meant to be a criticism of Graham Potter and his team who have done a magnificent job but when the dust settles on this season we will look back on a period of what may have been with games that looked within our grasp slipping away and a run of away form this year that was in complete contrast to home form that has seen us unbeaten at the Liberty in the league since Boxing Day.

Potter will be looking to end the season on a high as he confirmed in his press conference yesterday “We want to try and win, that’s the way to approach it,” said the Swans boss.

“We want to play well and finish the season in a good way.

“We have got better and taken a step forward these last two or three months and we have to look at the bigger picture in terms of how we have developed and the circumstances around the club.

“But we want to win. Of course, I would be lying to same it is the same as if we had still been going for the play-offs because it is not.”

For the Swans it looks as if Leroy Fer may have played his last game for the club having been ruled out of the last two games with injury and wide reports that he will be moving on in the summer.

Derby defender Fikayo Tomori is a doubt with a dead leg. Craig Bryson (ankle) and Ashley Cole (groin) remain out after missing Saturday’s win at Bristol City, but Duane Holmes (thigh) is back in contention and Andy King has returned to training after two months out with an ankle problem.

For one final home game, we took some time to look at the betting with the Swans official sponsors Bet UK and came up with the three below which will take some of our hard earned ahead of the game.

1. Oli McBurnie to score at any time. Oli just scores at the moment having passed the 20 league goal barrier this weekend and Potter believing he is getting better all the time. 29/20 to score at any time or 9/2 if you fancy that to be the first goal of the game.

2. Derby will be doing all they can to avoid defeat tonight but I can see a situation where the Swans score so that opens up two obvious bets. A score draw is 49/20 yet odds of only 10/11 are available for both teams to score. We go for the former purely as I hate both team to score bets.

3. We’ve missed a few penalties this season and if you fancy us to miss one tonight it is 12/1 but Matt Grimes walks on water at the moment so he won’t miss one if we get one. Because of that we move towards there being an own goal in the match 6/1.
