Ladies continue to go from strength to strength

The wheels may feel as if they have come off for the Swans first team in recent weeks but Swansea City Ladies continue to go from strength to strength and are now sat proudly at the top of the WPWL with a 100% season to date record.

Sunday’s 4-0 win over Cascade moved them three points clear of Cardiff Met at the top of the table with six wins from six so far this season and two wins since the league returned and nine goals on the board during those two games.

Last week it was Stacey John-Davis who attracted the headlines with four goals but this week it was Katy Hosford who grabbed a hat-trick in a game where the Ladies could easily have doubled their scoreline such was the dominance they experienced at Ystrad Mynach.

It will be a busy week for the WPWL this week as well with the Swans not in action until Sunday but Cardiff Met playing both Thursday and Sunday as they look to regain top spot with the two sides threatening to go the full distance as the Swans look to defend their league title.

Speaking to the official Swans website after the 4-0 win on Sunday, Hosford talked about how the team is encouraged to push on even when they are winning a game comfortable as they were on Sunday.

โ€œIt gives us a lot of confidence (being top of the table). We have won two in two (since the league restart) already, and we will keep building on that week by week,” said Hosford.

โ€œWe still look for things to improve on even though we have just come off the pitch and got three points.ย We will keep looking forward and see how we can improve every week.

โ€œAt half-time going in 3-0ย up, the coaches were telling us to keep going, donโ€™t give up and go out as if it was the start of the game.

โ€œThat is something we try to do every game, donโ€™t let it go, keep trying to get as many goals as we can and that is exactly what we did.”
