Swansea City will return to league action against Birmingham City on Friday night but will do so now on the backdrop of an injury concern for leading scorer Andre Ayew who was helped from the pitch in the closing minutes of Ghana’s game this evening.
Ayew was named in the side as captain in their 3-1 win but whilst initial reports suggest that he will be “OK” it will be a concern that Steve Cooper could have done without especially on the back of heading into the international break on the back of consecutive defeats.
Ayew has been on target 14 times for the Swans this season and in recent weeks has secured winning goals in the last minute from the penalty spot so it will certainly be a blow if the Swans have to do without him for any period of time even if it was short term and – as the pictures show below – he certainly did look in some discomfort as he was helped from the pitch.
FT: 3-1.

Earlier this week Ayew was absent – for travel restriction reasons – from the Ghana squad that qualified for the African Cup Of Nations thanks to a 1-1 draw.
