I am sure there was a sigh of relief through the whole Cooper household after today’s win at Millwall as it should make for a better night’s sleep and a much happier Steve when he arrives home after his side returned to form with a three goal victory.

The win was made all the more important by the afternoon results that saw Brentford, Barnsley and Bournemouth all secure three points which would have heaped additional pressure on the Swans should we have slipped to a fifth consecutive defeat.

Three excellent goals – one from Ayew and two from Lowe – gave the Swans a first win since the win at Luton and more importantly nudged us towards the play offs that has to me the minimum target for this season at this stage.

Not only was it a comprehensive win it was a significantly better performance from the Swans and one we can take into Tuesday night’s game at Sheffield Wednesday with a renewed confidence that we can use this as the first step on a run of form that could still see us end with Premier League football come the end of the season.

“It was a good performance. The result and performance are the two most important things in any game and we got them today,” said Cooper.

“We needed to win and to do it in our way, in our style, away from home at a place like this is really positive.

“We controlled the game and the ball today and that was really important.

“The third goal was an example of how we want to play, creating chances and being clinical.

“It’s really important now that we get back to Swansea and focus on Sheffield Wednesday because we have to keep going.

“We have stopped the rot, if you like, but this has to be the start of a positive run.”
