Newcastle and West Ham interest could benefit both Chelsea and Swans?

It has long since been suggested that when a player is in the shop window then his performances can go up a notch or two and that could be very good news for the Swans after the reports of Premier League interest in Marc Guehi.

Chelsea have already triggered a twelve month extension in the defender’s contract after his two very successful years at the Swans and that looks set to spark a bidding war for him this summer with West Ham and Newcastle just two of the many sides rumoured to be interested in securing his services.

It is reported that Southampton and Crystal Palace are also keeping an eye on developments at Stamford Bridge whilst Borussia Monchengladbach provide some interest from Germany.

Guehi is seen as a key part of the upcoming play off games for the Swans and strong performances from him will give the Swans a very good chance of success in the next few weeks although even promotion seems set to end Guehi’s spell at the club with the transfer fee believed to be prohibitive for the Swans even with the riches that promotion to the Premier League can bring.

Guehi has made more than 50 appearances for the Swans in his time with the club and has attracted some strong praise from his manager and team mates as well as international praise although he was unable to help the England Under-21 team progress at the European Championships.

It is expected that next season he will have a crack at the Premier League but it is expected to be away from Stamford Bridge with the Champions League finalists maybe more likely to loan him out rather than cash in on a player who could provide a long term solution at centre back for them.

However, the interest of multiple teams at that level could well prove to be good news for the player and hopefully the Swans as well.
