Ladies on the verge of their double – celebrations all round at Swansea?

Whilst all the hype may be focused around Wembley today we should not lose sight of the fact that the Swansea City Ladies team is on the verge of a league and cup double that could make this the biggest weekend of celebrations ever at the club.

After picking up a league cup win in midweek against Cardiff City the ladies will close off their league season tomorrow at Llandarcy in search of the point against Aberystwyth that will retain their league title with an unbeaten campaign.

It is somewhat testament to Cardiff Met that the title has come down to the last game of the season.ย  The Swans beat their local rivals back before the last lockdown started as they have taken 41 of the other 45 points available to currently sit top of the table albeit only on goals scored.

Both sides have a goal difference of +52 and the Swans have – incredibly – conceded just one goal in their fifteen games to date which makes them clear favourites to take the title to add to the silverware that they picked up in midweek.

Manager Colin Staples – a lifelong Swansea City fan – is not though taking anything for granted and will be looking for his side to pull out the same level of professionalism that they always do to ensure the title remains with us.

โ€œI am delighted for the players and staff that we have won a trophy after all their hard work; it is very pleasing,” he told the club’s official website

We move on from this, the girls earned what they did, but now we need to earn it on Sunday as well

โ€œAbergavenny are going to be a difficult team to play against and we need to go out there and give it our best shot.

โ€œIf we do that, Iโ€™m sure that we will enjoy the occasion.โ€

All at Planet Swans wish Swansea City Ladies the very best as they go in search of the result that they need – bring home the title.
