Sheffield Wednesday in Swans midfielder link

Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a move for Swans midfielder George Byers as he looks for regular first team football to further his career.

Appearances have become very limited at the Liberty for Byers who was sent out on loan to Portsmouth last season although it was a move that never worked out with Byers claiming on his return that he never had the chances that he deserved at Fratton Park.

“My loan at Portsmouth has come to an end.ย  A frustrating time for me as I didn’t get an opportunity to really show what I can do on the pitch,” Byers said at the time.

“Coming in and out of the team doesn’t allow you to be free flowing and play your best footie.ย  However this is football I have no regrets in my time here.ย  I managed to learn a lot about myself as a person which has made me hungrier to kick on and achieve.

“A massive thank you to the players and staff for making me feel welcome as soon as I cam.ย  I’m gutted I didn’t have the chance to play in front of a full Fratton Park but I felt your support through social media and I’m grateful for that.”

Now it is suggested that the Owls are about to move for Byers as Darren moore looks to build a promotion winning squad to get them back into the Championship at the first time of asking following their relegation at the end of last season.

The arrival this week of Liam Walsh from Bristol City will further limit Byers chances here in Swansea and it is difficult to see him having anything other than the occasional fleeting appearance in the season ahead, even if that happens.

And with Byers desire to play regular football this would be a move that makes sense and certainly one that you can see happening.
