Meanwhile back on the pitch, Ben shines as Tate oversees Swans win

With all the off the field talk being around the Swans new manager and the cancellation of two pre-season games to date it would be easy to forget that the Swans were in action yesterday evening with a 2-1 win at Forest Green Rovers in a match overseen by Alan Tate.

Goals from Yan Dhanda and 16 year old Ben Lloyd were enough to give the Swans the win as they start bringing to a close their pre-season preparations with the opening game at Blackburn now just over a week away.

The Swans took a 64th-minute lead when Dhanda finished off a sharp attack in transition.

And teenager Lloyd then netted with his first touch on a senior outing for the club just seconds after being introduced from the bench.

Matty Stevens scored from the spot late on for the hosts, after Joel Latibeaudiere was sent off for pulling the striker back in the area but it did not make any difference for the Swans as they ended up winners.

Caretaker manager Alan Tate:ย โ€œThe players have been excellent, they are a really good bunch of lads as I have known over these last two years being part of the coaching staff,โ€ he said.

โ€œWe sat down and spoke as a group on Thursday, we got some things out and once we left that room we said it was back to business and eyes on the prize.

โ€The prize is that opening game against Blackburn and they have been first class, not just as players but as people too. They should feel proud of how they have handled themselves.”
