Ethan Laird was a spectator at the Liberty yesterday evening after he agreed to join the Swans on loan for the season from Manchester United.

Laird, who played for Russell Martin last season at MKDons will join the Swans on a season long loan and be straight into the squad possibly for Tuesday night’s game against Stoke.

Speaking after the game, Russell Martin saidย “He was upstairs watching tonight, so if he’s driven all the way down to Swansea, I hope he’s ready to come in.

“He needs a medical and he needs to sit down with us and discuss how it’s going to work.

“But he’s here and I look forward to seeing him tomorrow morning then we’ll have a chat and see where it goes from there, but hopefully that’ll be one that gets done.

He can play wing-back, he can play centre-half, and he’ll add a big character as well,” added Martin.

“He is a fantastic person. He really added to us as a group at our previous club and he will do the same here. You can’t help but love him as a guy.

“He will add a lot of energy and athleticism as well and explosiveness in the final third.”
