Are the Swans in for Fleetwood duo?

Speculation is rising that the Swans could be one of several Championship clubs watching Fleetwood’s talented duo James Hill and Jay Matete who are both tipped for a January exit from the League One club but only -according to Chairman Andy Pilley – “only if the price is right”

Hill and Matete are both tipped by Pilley to be “Premier League stars of the future” and at just 19 and 20 years old respectively there is plenty of time for that prediction to come true and a January move to any Championship club could be the next phase of that development for the players.

Pilley revealed on Sunday that there had been plenty of interest in the players but insisted that he was in no rush to sell and certainly would only deal if clubs matched his own valuation of his promising stars.

“There is a cluster of clubs that are very interested in both James and Jay and other players as well, their time will come.

“There has been one or two rather ridiculous offers made and I’m quite long in the tooth, quite experienced now as a football club owner and we know the value of our players so we certainly won’t be letting them go on the cheap.ย  If you are a watching owner or manager yes we’ve got some outstanding players but we know their value and if you want to come in I’m confident you’ll be buying money as these are players that will go on and play regularly in the Premier League.

“That’s my belief but we’re not daft so please don’t insult our intelligence and bid what they’re worth.ย  We want to be that club that has the reputation of being the number one best in the EFL for giving players the opportunity and getting them a move to the Championship or the Premier League.”

Hill has featured 13 times in the league this season for Fleetwood scoring one goal whilst midfielder Matete has made 16 league appearances with one goal this time around.ย  Fleetwood currently sit 18th in league one, just two points above the relegation zone.
