EFL managers meeting today to discuss Covid situation

Managers from the EFL clubs are meeting today to discuss their position and views regards the ever escalating Covid situation that saw many fixtures postponed at the weekend as the increase in numbers impacted clubs up and down the country.

As we head into the busy Christmas period more and more matches are expected to be postponed as a direct result and this has meant a hastily arranged meeting of league managers today to discuss the position.

There is very much a split in the camp of what should happen with some managers wanting games to continue and others very much in favour of a ‘circuit break’ to try and quell the number of players impacted.

There is also the issue of thousands of fans attending games to consider on the same basis with the Welsh government we know potentially considering a minimum of reduced capacities at upcoming games.

โ€œI know thereโ€™s going to be a meeting with all the EFL managers on Monday around this situation,” Hull manager Grant McCann told Radio Humberside.

โ€œFor me, we have to keep going because whatโ€™s the point in having a week break, or a two-week break?

โ€œHow longโ€™s this going to be? We want to continue playing, we understand the severity of it but for me, we want to try and continue as much as we can and play the games.

โ€œWhat we do around the training ground, we have tight measures and the doctor plus the medical team are really good on that.

โ€œTo be honest, weโ€™ve got a group of players who try and abide the rules as much as they can.

โ€œWe donโ€™t know what the players or their families are doing outside of the club. All we can do is control the environment and thatโ€™s what weโ€™re doing.โ€
