Leeds United striker back on transfer target list

The name of Leeds United striker Sam Greenwood is back on the list of transfer targets for the Swans for the third time in twelve months.

The Swans first moved for Greenwood in the winter transfer window last season although then manager Steve Cooper admitted after the closure of the window that he was unsure if the reports of our approach were true or not.

It was then reported at the end of the summer window that we were one of six clubs to show an interest in the player as we searched to strengthen our forward options at the start of the season.

Now with those forward options seemingly depleted by the imminent departure of Morgan Whittaker, Greenwood is back on the list again with sources close to Leeds United suggesting that we have already made enquiries as to his availability.

Leeds were keen back in the last window to keep hold of Greenwood and those same sources suggest that at the moment that is very possibly going to be the same scenario although much will depend on the depth of the Leeds squad come the end of the month.

Greenwood made his first Premier League appearance for Leeds just over a week ago when he came on as a late substitute in a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal and this adds fuel to that belief that his future for the remainder of this season could remain at Elland Road.ย  Add to that recent injuries to Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Dan James and it all starts to suggest that whilst the Swans have an interest in Greenwood they could very soon be forced to look elsewhere in their striker hunt.
