Swansea told to consider Aston Villa defender who impressed against Man City

This one may just be lazy journalistic talk and a report without substance but it is being suggested in some quarters that the Swans are looking at a potential loan move for Aston Villa’s Kaine Kesler-Hayden who has been recalled from his loan spell at Swindon Town.

Kesler-Hayden was immediately recalled by Steven Gerard following Swindon’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday night with the Villa boss impressed by his display and keen to get him some more game time – believed to be at Championship level although if he really impresses it is also suggested that Gerard may be prepared to give him some time in the first team squad.

His spell at Swindon was his first time away from Villa Park but he generated some very strong performances and stats during his time away from the club and this has alerted Gerard and his staff to the next move for him hence the recall from Swindon.

It has been suggested that Kesler-Hayden would be an ideal replacement for Ethan Laird who left the club last week to join Bournemouth after Manchester United cancelled his loan spell early – a move that sent Swansea almost immediately into the market for a right back.

Upon his departure from Swindon, a club statement via their official website said “He won plaudits for hisย all-action approach and willingness to get stuck in at all times, while the defenderย earned call-ups to the England U20s set-up while with Town.

“There is no doubt that Kesler-Hayden will be forever remembered for scoring the goal that sent Town through to the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup, while he also produced a hugely impressive performance against a talent-laden Manchester City team in what turned out to his final appearance in a Swindon shirt.

“Everyone at Swindon Town Football Club would like to thank Kaine for his considerable efforts during his time with us, and we wish you the very best of luck for the future – we have no doubt you will go on to achieve big things in the game!”

As said at the start this could be nothing more than journalistic speculation but let’s see if it materialises into anything.
