Russell Martin appears to have finally got his man in Andy Fisher after MK Dons accepted our transfer bid on Monday but it was followed by immediate speculation that QPR may have an interest in Ben Hamer as they look for short term cover for injury.

The name of Hamer is not alone in being linked with reports suggesting they are also considering Kieran Westwood, Freddie Woodman (remember him?) and David Marshall.

The R’s first-choice stopper Seny Dieng is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and an injury to back up Jordan Archer leaves teenager Joe Walsh as Rangers’ only option unless a keeper is signed before this weekend’s match against their promotion rivals West Brom.

Hamer of course has been first choice at the Swans this season and is expected to be the back up for Fisher when he arrives with Steven Benda likely to move on but a transfer bid in for Hamer could force a re-think although it is also believed that Benda has a desire to move on as he does not want to be back up choice at this stage of his career.

Marshall is suggested to be at the front of the list for QPR if they can reach an agreement to take him from Derby and it is also believed that Woodman could be available for a loan despite his five Premier League appearances for Newcastle this season.

Westwood and Hamer appear to be the least likely although the Swans could possibly be prepared to part with him if the fee was right and if they could persuade Benda to stay on.   Both scenarios seem unlikely at this stage.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. 1. Benda has seen the writing in the wall. Like Cabango the only way for Benda to go with the Swans is down.
Hope both find good clubs where they will develop.
