Owners pull plug on late Brighton deal before Hull move

Swansea’s American owners are said to have “pulled the plug” on a late move for Brighton midfielder Ryan Longman.

The player was already on loan at Hull City where he had impressed, and according to Ian Mitchelmore and Wales Online – who are usually extremely reliable – the Swans had set up a move for the midfielder.

That was cancelled on deadline day allowing Longman to complete a permanent move to Hull instead, but it will further cause anger amongst fans after a fairly dreary transfer deadline day.

Russell Martin had targeted at least two new arrivals on the final day, but ended up with one at the last minute in Shrewsbury defender Nathanael Ogbeta.

The fact that finances are so tight in SA1 – although we don’t know what figures were discussed in the Longman approach – isn’t particularly news for anyone.

However with a deal seemingly agreed with Brighton before having the rug pulled by the owners doesn’t look great for anyone.

Penny for Russell Martin’s thoughts today?
