It has been confirmed that Russell Martin’s Assistant Manager Luke Williams has left the club after rumours surfaced earlier this week about an impending departure.
The 41 year old was notably absent – as discussed on our forum – from last weekend’s win against Bristol City and rumours have circulated since that he could be on his way out of the Swansea.com Stadium after a matter of months since arriving from MK Dons with Martin.
After Football League World broke the news earlier this afternoon, the club confirmed that Williams has left the club with immediate effect citing “personal reasons” for his departure.
Williams has long been recognised as a key part of his backroom staff; he himself has considerable experience having managed Swindon Town and Bristol City’s U23 team.
His replacement looks likely to be Technical Development coach Matt Gill who is set to step up to be Martin’s second in command until the end of the season.
The Swans official statement read: “Everyone at Swansea City would like to wish Luke all the best for the future and thank him for his hard work while at the club+”
